We think that World Heritage Sites and their buffer zones should be given the same protection from development as Green Belt land.
The Conservative Secretary of State Robert Jenrick has just allowed 118 houses to be built in the Derwent Valley World Heritage Site buffer zone, in fields that were inscribed by UNESCO due to their contribution to the relic landscape of the World Heritage Site. The government made a promise to the United Nations to protect World Heritage Sites, and is reneging on that promise. Join us in calling for World Heritage Sites and their Buffer Zones in England to be afforded permanent protection from development.
